March 22, 2024 - Not decanted, two glasses consumed over ~1.5 hours. Quite dark red and mostly opaque in the glass. Pretty well put together for a young $20 Bordeaux, with forward structure and a bit of extraction and oak showing through. Medium-plus body but with balancing acid. Dark cherry/ripe blackberry fruit and some cocoa powder offset by a bit of something green (although I could also see calling it anise or licorice). I'm inclined to let my other bottle rest a while and/or give it a good long decant before drinking it. A lot of wine for ~$20.
January 7, 2024 - Excellent wine after 2 hour decanting
December 16, 2023 - Opaque purple, nose of ripe berries. Medium body and expressive with firm structure with flavors of black cherry and licorice. Long finish with supple tannins and good acidity leading to an expression of tasty ripe fruit. Great QPR
October 1, 2023 - PnP during the football game. Opened in the glass and bottle.
Generally agree with prior notes. Nice ripe fruits, little bit of graphite and cedar, some oak that integrates with air. Nice structure and acidity as well. Screaming deal for under $20 and will cellar well for the next 5-10 years.
90-91
September 30, 2023 - Graphite, plum and cedar. Medium-plus body with medium tannin and acidity. This is a young, pleasant right bank wine.
April 25, 2023 - Quite the complex wine at a lovely value. Cocoa and blackberry aroma. Rich cedary flavors and some dark cherry chocolate notes followed by a long finish. Perfect with the rib-eye steak this eve!
February 8, 2023 - Coravined and tasted with a 2018 St Emilion Chateau Patris Querre, nice bouquet, refined, good fruit with smooth tannins, a young wine, the Patris was more tannic but opened up nicely as we drank it, both wines are young but are drinking ok now with some air, drank with porterhouse steak, baked potato and sugar snap peas, 14.5% abv, will drink again, fun to compare 2 wines from the same area.
January 11, 2023 - OKAY. Popped and poured. So for less than $22 at Costco, we get a dark blood-red color, with a chocolate-covered-cherry nose, and a creme-de-cassis palate. Quite a coup for the wine-making team given the tiny price of admission. 5-13-16-9: 93/100.
January 11, 2023 - dark and tannic; some anise, herb and stone; needs plenty of air right now; then deep and smooth; needs a couple of years for my palate.
December 23, 2022 - I left this in the cellar overnight. Glad I did. Really nice mineral scent to this along with herbs, Cassis, and red fruit. Maybe even better in the mouth. This is a steal for the price. Could give wines costing four times as much a run for their money. Best part is it's ready to drink now if you give it a little air. What a bargain. 5-13-17-8: 93/100.
