April 21, 2024 - Beautiful already. Very generous sexy nose but lots of tension on the pallet. Smoky, yeast, flint, pear, toast, lemon.
April 19, 2024 - Dinner at Heimat (Utrecht, NL): [Restaurant purchase] No detailed notes. Typical PYCM nose with reduction, smoke, oak. The palate felt a bit thin, but very enjoyable
February 12, 2024 - A bit more sweeter, tropical than my last bottle opened a year ago. Ripe citrus, Honeysuckle, white peach, vanillin with moderate tension. Much more rounder shape in the mouth with plushier texture. Not much complexity here, not seeing much upside in aging these, a simple afternoon sipper.
February 9, 2024 - Shiny pale yellow-gold with green tint. Citrus, green apple, white flowers, nuts, herbs, honeycomb and minerality. Medium bodied, medium-high acidity, medium structure, medium alcohol and long finish. Fresh, complex and elegant.
November 29, 2023 - PNP. Classic smoky PYCM nose, mineral laden, spicy with orchard fruit elements. Pear, ginger and chalky citrus on the palate, deep and unctuous with a mouth coating texture. Moderate acidity and a chalky finish.
Day 2 update. Still smoky and flinty on the nose. The palate is rounder and less chalky. Softer and less precise, but excellent overall for a $50 Saint-Aubin.
October 7, 2023 - Not fundamentally different from my last note. The orchard fruit and cream nose got richer, the citrus and chalk palate cut harder.
For some reason I always undervalue these compared to his En Remilly, but that is a mistake -- I think I like them just as much. The severity of the Marguerite is extremely pleasing.
July 29, 2023 - I enjoyed this wine at first, but it seemed to fade. The flinty matchstick reduction seemed to block some of the lemony fruit. This is a very linear wine and I am not sure if it will open up with more age. At least, I don't have prior experience to know this.
April 27, 2023 - PNP. Flinty and lemon zesty nose, crisp and beautifully delineated. Lean palate, complex lemon/lime flavor profile with a citrus rind, chalky finish. Still very primary but not a waste to open now.
April 24, 2023 - It has the tension and the signature PYCM reduction. Not yet ready, check back in another year perhaps.
January 21, 2023 - Citrus, green apple, and high minerality. Wine had good weight and beautifully layered. Long finish.
