Community Tasting Notes 52

April 10, 2024 - Lifted, aromatic nose featuring orange peel, damson, eucalyptus, clove and spice. Fairly full bodied but not ‘heavy’. Textured with lots of currant and dark cherry. Coffee and spice. Very complex. Plush and generous but with evolving herb and mint notes that keep you coming back. Retains freshness. Margaux meets Montebello ? Mouton meets Dominus ? Could it be just a fraction less alcoholic ? Or would it be less enveloping and seductive if it was….either way it’s a delicious glass of wine even now and the structure is beautifully covered.

February 15, 2024 - Great potential, but not nearly ready. Dark ruby/purple, reticent nose, tightly wound structure overpowering the fruit despite its' ample body. Firm tannins and tight finish. This needs 5+ years to show its best.

February 10, 2024 - Dinner with Friends at Platea. This is a very fragrant Margaux with a nose of flowers, blue fruits and delicate crème de cassis. Body is soft with soft tannins and a fresh acidity that makes you come back for more. The finish is medium in length with flowers.

November 28, 2023 - Did not get the same expressiveness with this bottle. Double decanted and not open decanted. Also did no favors by following the 1989 PLL.

November 28, 2023 - This is big by bdx standards. Substantial but smooth tannins and exuberant fruit. Fun to drink even now. Not in the elegant style which is more in vogue now, but I am fine with that.
