March 20, 2011 - this was a nice pizza wine: gruyere, broccoli rabe and carmelized onions. Not a big baby, no animale and certainly not fit for horsemeat, It was nice to enjoy a young, approachable amarone with proper attributes. Dark fruits, relaxed tannins, beautiful color.

August 30, 2009 - WOW, this wine was outstanding. The wine came with a tag written in Italian and English. Interestingly the Italian description suggested decanting for 2 hours. I was hestistant to decant a 9 year old wine for 2 hours but decided to try it. We tasted a sample upon opening. The wine is a beautiful deep red, opague. The nose on the sample was all earth and tabacco with very little fruit. The dinner was a rostisserie grilled prime rib and roasted fingerling potatoes. The wine was all velvet on the palate - from beginning to end with a small amount of tannin on the finish which was a pleasant contrast to the velvet. Surprisingly there was more fruit (plum, blackberry when we drank it, both on the nose and on the palate, than was in the sample. The velvet was so pleasant you wanted one taste after another. The wine was outstanding. What a shame that this is the only bottle. We paid $28 - what a steel. It has been years since we have had an Amarone. I remembered it as being a bit on the heavy side. This was simply delicious, big yes, not overly so, but the velvet was so nice.

August 24, 2008 - This was our first amarone. Drank from a 375 ml and served with osso buco. The reputation of this pairing is well founded. This wine made the meal even more enjoyable. Though I have no other frame of reference, I have to believe that this would be considered a moderate amarone. The flavors of raisins and figs were definitely there but slightly subtle.

June 21, 2008 - Deep ruby color on opening, deepens with decanting time. Thick, dark fruit black fig, cherry, blackberry, raisin with some spice, leather and mineral notes. Smooth, long finish. Very enjoyable with earthy vegetables, meat.

February 3, 2008 - Intense purple color in the glass. Strong smell of raisin on the nose with a hint of orange zest as it went down the throat. Very nice wine.

September 12, 2006 - Beautiful dark ruby color with slight burnt orange on the edges of the wine. Gorgeous fruit comes through with powerful black cherry, black berry, figs and sundried raisins and is rounded by a long smooth finish of leather and spice. Firm structure and long sexy legs makes this wine an absolute pleasure to enjoy. Great with food, but elegant enough to drink on its own.
