October 23, 2021 - Pale lemon color. Reserved on the nose, with some lemon citrus fruit, as well as a bit of more tropical, melon aroma. There's also a faint whiff of smokiness. On the palate, the fruit leans more toward apple and pear, though it still has a nice spine of acidity. It's a nice balance of RS and acid, which is a good thing because the structure ends up being the best part of the wine. The flavor complexity and intensity is not much to write home about. A tasty guzzler, essentially.

September 4, 2021 - Alone tasted slightly a little too sweet for the acidity level but with food it worked well. We had seafood and sashimi tapas and sushi rolls. It worked well with all of it. I agree with the good QPR

June 11, 2021 - sweet tropical fruits, not enough acid to balance.

February 24, 2021 - Retail $12. Under screw cap. It has been a while since I have seen Nik Weis, but he seems to be powering along as he always has. He introduced this Urban Riesling almost two decades ago as a second wine for St-Urban’s Hof, one of the titans of the Mosel founded by his grandfather in 1947, right after WWII. This wine is made with mostly purchased fruit (grapes from the estate go into the parent wines) and is always a delight. Light on its feet (only 10% ABV), with a kiss of sweetness, this is still all Mosel Riesling with golden apple, peach, and that ubiquitous (it seems) petrol note. As I said, this is always a delight and for the price, perhaps the best Mosel Riesling on the market.

December 25, 2020 - Apples, hints of more tropical fruit (banana even??), a little mint and mineral and a jasminey floral note. Off dry (closer to medium dry than dry), M to M- body, enough acid for balance and food but a little less than an average estate Mosel Kabinett. Naturally this is not as good as the entry level estate bottlings from St Urban Hof or other major Mosel producers but it’s as good as wine gets for $13; the qpr on this (and other Mosel negociant bottlings from quality oriented producers) is amazing. Incredibly food flexible—we had it with bibimbap. I should probably buy a case of this to keep around for quick, easy, low cost meal pairing. ~6/10

October 12, 2020 - Very pale straw color with inviting aromas of ripe pear, apricot, tangerine, honey, white flower and a bit of smoke aromas. On the palate it approaches medium-bodied and is off-dry, and balanced with mouthwatering acidity and pear, white peach, apricot, tangerine, and honey flavors with a hint of spice and a very pleasing minerality. 10% abv|SRP - $13.99. Great QPR!

“Urban” Riesling is named after the patron saint of winemaking, St. Urban. The vines that produce the fruit for Urban Riesling are grown on the blue slate soils in the neighboring town to the St. Urbans-Hof estate called Mehring.

September 8, 2020 - The nose and palate are alike.
Red apple skin, citrus. A lot of minerality and chalk.

Very delicious, fruity, a classic semi-sweet riesling. A big pleaser and very big money for value here.
It's a drink now, wine. Maybe over the next 4-5 years.

    Body medium
    Sweetness medium+
    Acidity high.
