February 20, 2024 - Lean and linear, lively. Dried cherry fruits, tart, perhaps even some cranberry. Second day better. Better with food. Farewell, my last bottle. This one has years of life left. Would be interesting to taste this in 20 years, in its senility.

January 28, 2024 - 100% Tempranillo from Ribera Del Duero, per RP this has aged in bottle since 2012, presumably aged in American for some time between 2009-2012. Enjoying half today and half tomorrow.

Day 1: The wine is brick red with some browning in it. Pretty translucent. Shows a bit of age. On the nose there’s iodine, a lot of roasted mushroom/umami, a hint of stewed dark fruits too. Really interesting, complex, savory nose. With more air it became very chocolatey on the nose. On the palate it’s savory, well structured with chewy tannins and no detectable alcohol. With air it’s getting more savory, delivering on the mushroom/truffley quality from the nose. Have to really dig for the fruit, it’s towards black cherry/fig. After an hour it’s getting very chocolatey, after 2 it’s showing more cooked figs/dark fruits on the palate. Chocolate/coconut finish leads me to believe American oak was involved here. Finish is long and pleasant, with the chocolate notes remaining on the palate for a while. Quite structured, medium+ body I would say. Still good acidity there too, I think this can continue to age nicely if you like chocolatey wines that show more fruit with a lot of air. Enjoyed on its own. Excited for day 2.

Day 2: looks and smells identical, I’m picking up a bit more alcohol on the nose. Still very chocolatey on the palate, a bit more prune/figs now though. Agree with the other poster that this takes a LONG time to show its fruits, but when it does it’s a beautiful bouquet of tart cherry and cranberry. Took about 2.5hrs on the second day. Nose is more or less unchanged, pretty chocolatey still. Very nice.

December 9, 2023 - We drank this over two nights. Didn’t ever find enjoyment in it. A little too tart up front and without much layering. Perhaps a little toned down on the tart on day 2.

November 10, 2023 - This was my third bottle over the past few years and the best of the three. Delicious dark and red fruit with high acidity. Shows its age not only with coloring but with lots of earth, some leather, and herbs. Alcohol and tannins well integrated. Was best on day 1. Lost the darker fruit and thinned out some on day 2. This wine is very fairly priced, quite good, and ready to drink.
