December 25, 2015 - Opened this rare large 3L bottle over Christmas dinner with family and friends. Popped and poured into decanter. Since this was a blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Gamay, Malbec, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Syrah, you'd think it'd be at least somewhat fruit forward and interesting. Nope... unless you're comparing to other Ontario (Canada) dry reds.

Medium tannins, thin fruit, low complexity, weak structure not atypical of Ontario dry red wines. However, it's still better than ~95% of Ontario dry reds. Price is $45 CDN for a 750mL bottle but you can find better $15 reds elsewhere making the Stratus (like most Ontario dry wines), bad QPR.

If you have bottles, no need wait, I don't see this wine getting any better. Drink now and hurry!

August 24, 2013 - Cab franc dominated nose, structured tannins, moderate finnish

May 11, 2009 - Drank this at Fairway in NYC with friends. It was pinot noir in color. A bit tannic. It got a little better as the evening went on. Drinkable, but nothing special.

February 23, 2008 - Decent red. One-dimentional, but decent fruit dominated by soft oak. Good red from NOTL, but not worth the $$.

November 28, 2007 - A reasonably fragrant wine without the unripe note that I usually get off of Ontario reds. This was 'actually' a drinkable red wine from Ontario, the first I have ever had. I was quite impressed. Companions that enjoyed this wine with me said that prior vintages were even better than the 2004.
