January 2, 2024 - Sweet, light with only a faint nose. Barely more flavorful than water.

September 16, 2023 - My fourth tasting of this wine and vintage for CellarTracker, this time at room temperature, 25 degrees C. See the previous tastings reported on 11/18/2021, 3/28/2022, 5/29/2023. The cork aroma is now reminiscent of ketchup. The long finish is becoming more mineral-ly and more bitter. If you have this wine in your cellar, open it now. There is no indication that further cellaring will improve the wine; rather, it seems to be going in the other direction.

May 29, 2023 - This is my third review reported in CellarTracker, independent of the earlier two reviews, of this wine and vintage. The label reports the alcohol content using a decimal comma (14,5%) and the text is in alternating sentences of Spanish and English, with the latter not always being the best translation of the former: the single word 'quesos' is rendered as 'strong flavoured cheeses' for example. In contrast to my earlier reviews of this wine, I found no importer mentioned on the label, which suggests that the wine may have found its way into the US in a non-official way. The cork, with a maximum wine penetration of 5 mm, has more of a citrus aroma. The wine was vinturied and tasted about 20 minutes later at room temperature, 25 degrees C (the label recommends 16 or 17); the nose was much less reminiscent of vegetables, and instead high-quality fruit came through, confirmed by the tasting; the body was fuller and its Rioja qualities shone through (in a good way); the composition and balance of the wine are very good; I am back to the enthusiastic 88 of the very first tasting, even raising the score a notch

    October 16, 2022 - Bright cherry notes.

May 30, 2022 - At 7 years of age this Tempranillo-Graciano blend is starting to show a hint of age. Medium ruby colored with a touch of bricking in the glass. The nose concurs- this bottle has medium intensity aromas of earth, leather, dust, prune, blackberry, vanilla, tobacco, cedar box, cinnamon and stewed red currants. The palate is dry with gorgeous tannins that are very integrated. The acidity is prominent with some sour red cherry notes to go alongside the numerous secondary and tertiary notes I got on the nose. Medium bodied, this wine is silky and slips down ever-so-nicely to a somewhat tart yet long finish. I really love Spanish Reservas- this is a great example that brings out that bramble and dust I get so often with Rioja wines. I love it and will go with 93 points. It will drink beautifully till 2028 at the least and pair well with lighter cuts of meat. For $16 this is a steal folks. The pros dissed this one- more for me I say. 5 stars.
