Community Tasting Notes 18

September 3, 2023 - Medium gold color. Nose of mature green apple, light apricot, and wet stones. Medium-bodied, medium acidity, flavors of mild lemon, a bit of herbaceousness and a bit of astringency on the medium length finish.

Not a typical Chablis. Not offensive, by any means. But not what I expected. Drink now - I do not see this improving.

Note: my bottle was of questionable provenance - it may have sat in my parents' warmish kitchen for a couple months before I rescued it. 😉

August 31, 2023 - Sampled over a 90-minute interval from a popped and poured half-bottle that had been selected from a restaurant's list, this light golden wine offers a moderately intense aromatic profile of green apples, citrus, wet stones and saline. Light-bodied, crisply acidic and without detectable oak or alcohol, it delivers comparable but far less intense flavors than would be predicted by the nose. Severely thinning on the mid-palate and truncated on the finish, this is an inoffensive but unremarkable Chablis that can best be described as "lacking stuffing." Drink now-2025.

March 4, 2023 - Similar price point as the 2019 Domaine Laroche St. Martin but much less QPR, I would go with Domaine Laroche if either are available at your shop.

Expect a linear though not textbook Chablis, the minerality was subtle in the mid-palate but restrained. Opening with green apple/citrus, followed by the limited flint note and finishing rather saline. Very acidic; I rarely have acid reflux but it was induced by this wine so I would suggest pairing with food (brie, chicken francaise, etc.).

January 28, 2023 - The neck of the bottle broke while opening. This never happened to me before; very strange.

August 3, 2022 - Golden color. Notes of citrus and tropical fruits, stone and saline. Medium/fuller bodied white. Sort of like a slightly less expensive and non-oaked Rombauer Chardonnay. Went well with salty/sweet charcuterie spread (surprisingly well with sesame seaweed chips) and grilled chicken and salad.
