February 5, 2022 - Nice deep red coloring, forest notes mixed with cherry. Mature and enjoyable but no fireworks.

May 29, 2021 - (Decanted for one and a half hour)
Brick red colour with a maturing warm nose showing chocolate, red berries and a touch of cedar wood and vanilla oak in a very pleasant way. Smooth tannins on the palate still with a fruity minerality and a warm round finish and showing a touch of herbs. Matched the fillet of beef and morel cream sauce perfectly tonight!

June 2, 2020 - Posting an old note drank in 2012, medium red with bricking, very earthly nose, full bodied, muscular, powerful, lacking finesse

May 16, 2020 - Purchased at auction and even though the lot was not described as “signs of seepage”, once I removed the capsule it was clear the bottle had experienced seepage : (

Too bad, since even with the slippery cork that was completely soaked through, the wine in the bottle was still drinkable and almost enjoyable. It’s clear this wine had red and black cherry with pencil shavings, worn leather and good acidity but it’s just worn out and tired from the exposure to the air.

Oh well, c’est la vie du vieux Bordeaux!

Still some red Bordeaux colour with a brick red hue. Mature nose showing sweet fruit, white pepper, dried herbs and leather. Softened tannins on the palate with warm fruit and notes of leather on the mid before the lengthy warm and smooth finish. This was good and matched the grilled tenderloin very well tonight.

December 4, 2018 - Needs 1.5 hr decant. Great bourdoux nose, light tanins enough to hold, a little light but very nice... for me

March 3, 2018 - This was a good showing from the vintage, still performing nicely with enough fruit and freshness to backup the tertiary notes that come after a couple of hours of decanting. Very good performance tonight.
Deep red colour with a brick red hue and a nose showing herbs, leather and morellos. Palate still has fruit to backup the tannins that start to smooth out now. Will keep feeling fresh for many years to come. (Probably best 2009-2024)

December 9, 2017 - last bottle of a case that has given a lot of pleasure, generally soft in character, rich earthy fruit nose, still very vibrant, lovely, palate has perfect balance, just rolls across the tongue coating the whole mouth, no holes, long finish at the back with excellent aftertaste and persistence, not above its station, doesn’t have the ultimate complexity and class of a really top cru but very very good just the same, as good as it gets at this level, so goodbye old friend.....

November 4, 2017 - excellent level and cork, dark cherry red with very little brown, still remarkably youthful, rich meaty typical St Estephe / northern Medoc nose, palate of rich chocolately fruit, warm, quite soft, with drier tannin rather than acid at finish, smooth and well balanced, persistent aftertaste, very good food wine, still holding at a perfect plateau, little change from the last few bottles
