September 18, 2023 - Fragrances of tobacco, cranberry, prune, rose, and earthy aromas to finish. The earthy aromas, tobacco, and cranberry make their way to the tongue along with cherry. Tremendous food wine that took 90 minutes to settle some of those medium plus tannins while drinking out of a Barolo glass. The second day was more Earthy and perfumery. I enjoyed the 2016 and 2018 a lot more.

May 2, 2022 - Ruby in color and big on flavor. Bright acidity, nice body, and well integrated tannin. Beautiful nose. Wonderful with pizza tonight. Really opened up after an hour. Drank well tonight but had the structure to lay down for a while longer.

October 6, 2021 - What a beautiful aroma! Loaded with potpourri, pine needle compost, sous bois, spice box and red cherries. Medium-bodied and taut. Excellent purity, this is loaded with flavors that echo the aromas. Given how delicious this is now, why age further? That said, this should drink well until age 10+ 93

August 1, 2021 - Nice bright colour similar to a Pinot noir. Earthy, tobacco flavours & nice tannins. Agree with other reviews that is most likely needs a few more years in the cellar. I really liked it.

July 14, 2021 - Really lovely. Definitively too young- not by too much, as there's some fair expressivity here, but it needs a little nap to help integrate the seriously puckery, chalky tannins. Similar quality to the last entry-level Barbaresco I tried (Produttori 2016, last year)- this Neive was a little harsher, less "pure" and less expressive, but also more complex and might be even longer-lived. This was also a touch less expensive.

Fairly shy but multi-layered nose- some ripe red cherry and darker spiced plum, then a powerful wood note, almost like fresh-cut cedar plank, much earthier than a typical "oaky" tone. Light pipe tobacco and leather round it off. Even more of that earthy wood tone by day 2, almost smelling like a Bordeaux. Loved the nose, even if it wasn't the most expressive.

Palate needs to chill out a little bit- sooooo so much tannin. My mouth was covered with chalk dust. However, the acidity is great, very lifted without feeling awkward, and there's a good dose of earthy fruit- dried cherry, fresh cherry, red plum, etc. Didn't soften by day 2. A little more palatable with food. Overall, solid QPR for $25 at Costco- if closer to $40 (wine-searcher), it's still good QPR if you plan to lay it down.

April 19, 2021 - We loved this wine. It is light bodied but very complex. Langhe produces some outstanding wines and this one is a great value for that area.Yes, I will use the word --sexy.

April 18, 2021 - Cherry. camphor, eucalyptus, leather. Med body, med+ acid, more tannic than expected. Lovely and engaging. We found that it benefitted from a short decant (a half hour or less) to reach peak. Dont leave it out too long though. I'll be seeking this wine out again.
