July 10, 2021 - This is now ready to drink! Since other 2018s are finally coming around, I decided to re-visit Mr. Touquette's annual masterpiece. Dark black and red in the glass with a little bit of purple. Blackberry and blueberry, lot's of earth, mineral and graphite from mid-palate through the finish. Nice and full and this is a typical Benoit wine -- it's not over the top, it's full-flavored, it's dialed back slightly, it's a great representation from The Las Piedras Vineyard, and, it's awesome.

97-98 points for now with upside.

June 13, 2021 - Not incredibly fruit forward. Hints of green pepper on the finish. Fantastic wine that will continue to get better.

May 28, 2021 - Popped the cork on one of these last night, and will follow up with more detailed notes this weekend.

    94/96/98
First score is impressions from the first sip after a three hour decant
Second is the final glass about two hours after first sip
98+ is the potential for this wine in 3-5++ years.

If you have several, take one for a spin but give it a healthy decant (5-6 hours). I will be waiting on my remaining bottles until at least next year.

Fans of this wine are in for a treat, if you have patience.

This could be their best vintage yet...

February 27, 2021 - 2018 LPV Blind Tasting: VV, Carter, Fait Main, Quivet and B Cellars (Lang's): 2018 LPV blind tasting. Wines: Vice Versa, Carter La Verdad, Quivet, Fait Main and B Cellars. Six total tasters. All wines decanted 3+ hours.

The FM came in last. It was last for 5 out of 6 of us, including me. I actually thought this was probably the Quivet. I was really disappointed, as I figured the FM would be close to the top. The nose was muted, the acidity was high toned, the depth was lacking and overall it was the least interesting. I've had so many great bottles of FM I am willing to say this may have just been a bad bottle or opened at the wrong time. There was no doubt however that on this night, it was the worst of the group. Even had some left over the next day and it was still uninteresting.

February 18, 2021 - 10 hr slow ox based on others notes. Still very big, sweet blackberry was initial impression and moderate tannic grip even with the air. Very optimistic about the future of this wine.
