August 22, 2022 - This may have been slightly corked, but I'm really not certain. I'm typically pretty sensitive to cork taint though, and this didn't have the telltale sign of getting corkier with air and time, so I'm leaning towards thinking not corked. But the nose was off. Some musty earth at first but then it closed up to just not have much going on aromatically at all. The palate was not affected by cork taint, as far as I could tell. Rich and full, quite sweet but with underlying tangy acidity, fairly mature in flavor profile. And the finish was long and layered with fruit. A surprising showing, but I think this is a very good wine. Possibly an off bottle here.

February 11, 2018 - Lovely weight. Nicely rich but with good balancing acidity. Not nearly as sweet as one might have expected given the vintage, and certainly less so than the ** version. This is a far better bottle than my last one, none of the bitter elements previously noted. very decent. ***1/2

September 23, 2017 - Full straw. Obviously not as sweet as the **, but Auslese-sweet none-the-less with a floral and tropical fruit complexity. Just a sense of a slight bitterness on the edge that slightly takes the gloss off. ***

January 13, 2015 - Day 3 in the Mosel - Schaefer/Selbach-Oster/Prum (Mosel Saar Ruwer - Germany): Johannes told us that in a normal vintage, this would have been a Beerenauslese, but 2006 provided its own BA. The power and concentration were certainly amped up for an Auslese, but boy oh boy, was the acidity appealing. Lots and lots of apricots, lychee, peaches, mangos, and passion fruit all seemingly held together by the wines laser-like acidity. A killer wine with a lot of balance.

April 3, 2009 - Nose is stony with fresh rain intermingled with the fruit. The palate simply sings! It has a luminosity emanating from within, dancing through the sweetness. Reaffirms the reputation of riesling as one of the 'noble' grapes. Love it, love it, love it.
