February 26, 2024 - Highly expressive Syrah. Excellent for this, but also for higher level. Years to go. 92+ but moving up.
February 10, 2024 - 90 min decant; paired with Thai curry, which honestly wasn't the greatest pairing. Flavors echo my previous note: Blackberry compote, vanilla, a bit of smoked meat and pepper. Stored 1/2 bottle overnight on the counter (<65*, vacu-sealed in the bottle) and day 2 it was MUCH more tannic than day 1. Hard to drink without some food to cut the tannins, but still very good stuff, and still nowhere near peak. Drink now with air - 2033+.
December 27, 2023 - MAYBE THE BEST PATRINA I HAVE EVER HAD
December 2, 2023 - dark black and blue fruit. excellent
September 24, 2023 - Aerated with a Vinturi and decanted for one hour. Nose of blackberry, blueberry, gamey meat, bramble, black licorice and spice. Ripe blackberry, gamey meat, licorice, bramble and spice on the palate. Long finish. Full bodied. Served with apple smoked berkshire pork chops and a cherry sauce.
July 24, 2023 - Decanted and drank over three days. Blackberry compote, blueberry, earth and a small alcohol burn on the nose. 14.6 ABV. A deep black fruit core with some pepper and a silky texture that at moments came together nicely, but overall played second fiddle to the still lively tannin. Best after a few hours in the glass, day-2 was nice as well, faded a bit by day-3. For me, 92 at this time, and betting on a bit more symmetry in a year or two.
July 23, 2023 - Rich dark fruit, spice, and floral notes on the nose and silky palate with refreshing tannins on the long finish.
July 16, 2023 - Just as delicious as last bottle.
July 8, 2023 - Best during the first hour. 14.6% ABV.
