March 28, 2024 - Decanted for an hour. Olive tapanade, garrigue (I love to see that on a California wine!) fresh cracked black pepper, ripe blueberries and ripe black currant on the nose. High intensity of aromas. Palate adds dried thyme, ripe strawberries, ripe black cherries and bacon grease. Medium + intensity of flavors. Finishes with 30 seconds of lovely bitter herbs that recall the garrigue from the nose, as well as dark chocolate and a hint of vanilla.

Medium + body with medium acid and medium tannin. Drinking very well right now, and will probably stay like this for a couple more years. I don't see it getting much better with additional bottle age.

Excellent pairing with brasato al "Barolo" ;)

October 11, 2023 - 60 minute decant. Interesting aromas of lavender, black raspberry jam, and fresh oregano and thyme. Black cherry and pumice on the palate, adding anise seed, smoked ham, and black fruits. Medium-length finish of black olive, fat tannins, dried herbs, and juicy black fruit with a touch of oak at the end.

September 24, 2023 - Katie and I enjoyed this wine watching Yellowstone! Strong peppercorn flavor also Asphalt and petrol!

June 30, 2023 - Shed a bit of its youthful complexity, rounding into an elegant, savory cool climate Syrah. Tons of olives and green peppercorn, with mulberry, subtle bacon fat. Not getting so much violet and white pepper, interestingly. Such a singular, elegant palate presence, weightless yet with a rounded, silky texture. Herby dark fruit, with basil and a hunt of petrol. Ultra-long finish, should round off its tannins in a few years, though the tannic structure is finely tuned.

    Drink or hold.

February 13, 2023 - Nose of chocolate-covered cherries, pomegranate, and cherry wood. Rounded palate of smoked meat, dry raspberry, dark cherry, plum, and lots of Herbs de Provence. Fat tannins on the finish with raspberry, green peppercorn, and dried meat. A bold Syrah that's a bit rustic but still light on its feet.
