May 22, 2023 - Very deep purple. This is a decidedly silly wine being sold at a decidedly serious price point. On the nose it is confected and cacophonous, offering aromas of raisins, strawberry bubblegum, floral perfume, and burnt wood. On the palate it is full bodied with diminished acidity, a low level of somewhat grippy tannins, obvious alcoholic heat and residual sugar, and flavors that resemble a black cherry milkshake. I know this wine has fans, and I have no interest in offending them - it has exceptionally good reviews from other contributors on this very website - but I struggle to imagine who this is for: those who like sweeter, deeply ripe red wines could find what this offers for a tenth of the price of this bottle in the Red Blend section of their local store.
