October 29, 2021 - bright gold color, sweet pear and earth on the nose, pastry crust, apple, citrus, on the palate a fine earth note with a hint of blueberry drives the midpalate of white orchard fruits, fine layers of minerals lead into a superb long finish with a snap of crisp apples, wow, my first encounter with Ultramarine- the wine is every bit as great as the tales tell.

****+, ready to go but could develop with bottle age

September 12, 2021 - I don’t get the hate Ultramarine gets from some people (possibly hating it mainly because of the secondary values?). This bottle was fantastic. Loved how generous and giving it was. It’s not a laser precise Champagne, but it’s so well done and has such a lovely body and finish. I’d buy this on release over just about any grower Champagne in its price range, except Lurquin :)

Thank you for this bottle, Harmacist!

    August 28, 2021 - nose - candied lemon
mouth - rich custard, full bodied with, as put by BH, a 'sweet lilt'. good persistent acidity. I suspect with time will be even better.

July 27, 2021 - Vice Versa weekend and dinner: Lemon, sea foam, and salt rock flavors are speedy on the front end and rounded on the back. A little Ultramarine funk typicity adds interest. Compared to other vintages, the 2016 seems to be a broader and fuller sparkler compared to the more punchy 2013; the 2016 reminds me of the 2014 with its open and wide expansion of flavor. Drink now and drink cold, as a warmer temperature tends to flatten out the needed tension.
