December 19, 2023 - Christmas Wimps 2023 - Clean Bandit (La Trompette): And another step up in our Bordeaux flight. Clearly more mature than the 2000 - this is in a better state now. Will it go on for as long? Hard to say but yum, and thank you for sharing.

December 14, 2023 - Christmas Wimps (La Trompette, Chiswick): This is much more developed than the 2000 (poured alongside it), showing typical Graves notes of tobacco, smoky earth along with the blackcurrant fruit that is now sitting contentedly on the background. The palate is medium bodied and harmonious with soft tannins, and the fresh acidity carries a good length finish. Lovely, and drinking well.

December 14, 2023 - Christmas Cornucopia WIMPS #172 14th December 2023 (La Trompette, Chiswick): Lovely dark fruited nose there is almost a hint of blueberry coulis as well that gorgeous Graves tobacco character. With are a touch of very classy saddle leather. Palate is cool fruited with some perfectly resolved tannins. After and hour there's a charming and very understated smokiness and some Bakewell sweetness. Such a good wine and delighted to have topped up the cellar from the same case as this one.

September 3, 2023 - Pnp - A little funk on the nose but more leather, touch of red fruit followed by some green pepper poking through after about 30 mins. Beautiful garnet color. Round and smooth, bright and balanced leading you to a elegant lingering finish. Very nicely surprised by this one.

June 22, 2023 - 1998 Bordeaux Horizontal - London (Sun Street Hotel, Liverpool Street, London): Really love this too. Punching above its weight, this cool fruited delight has just the most amazing texture. Lovely acidity perfectly resolved tannins, fabulous length and richness. With air the cool dark fruits and green bell pepper really develop and add a subtle cinnamon spiciness. Chapeau, my 3rd wine of the night.

Rockss and Fruit

(La Tour Haut Brion) The La Tour Haut Brion continues the recent streak of fantastic '98 Pessacs I have been enjoying. You know you are in Pessacville as soon as this wine is poured. Scorched earth, weedy tobacco, leather, pure cassis fruit. Kind of dusty with a very high-toned floral note. Just soooo delicate on the palate with wonderful finesse and juicy red and black fruits. The focus of the fruit was something. Still some structure that needs to flesh out but still very drinkable and downright delicous.
