February 22, 2024 - Really excellent wine at a nice spot maturity-wise. I wish I had other bottles to try at three year increments. My senses, this one will continue to develop, not necessarily improve, but develop well for the next decade. It definitely has some bright acidity, and tannic structure remains pronounced.

July 22, 2023 - Decanted at Rathbun's Steakhouse in Atlanta. There's a lot of legs left with this bad boy. 18 years old and still going strong. Could go another ten years easy. Deep, dark and brooding with ever so slight bricking on the rim. Still very youthful in appearance. On the nose, jammy, brambly with hints of florals. Pretty expressive. This wine changed/evolved over the course of dinner. Had with a wagyu strip. This wine is a dichotomy of muscle and finesse. Still pretty fruit forward, luscious and yummy. A real beauty. Drink now or hold for potentially even better things to come.

October 6, 2020 - Decanted three hours. Pure and balanced redcurrant, macintosh apple, licorice, molasses, bright saucy acid, fine tannins. Medium-plus body, long finish. This is the finest aged Colgin I've had to date. It's remarkable how different their cuvees are from one another. The Tychson Hill shows as precise and high-toned with orchard fruit and cider-like acid. It's absolutely singing right now. Alas, my only bottle.

June 8, 2019 - Deep color no amber. Dark blueberry aromatics. Really yummy in the mouth. Must have significant bit of Merlot planted on Tychson Hill. Very apparent here. Tried to convince myself it was a Pomerol but more Napa in character. Tannins all silky and nice finish. Relatively short drinking window left.

August 12, 2017 - Violet and dark fruit on the nose. Initially boysenberry and cherry with strong tobacco. After 30 mins did it open up with flavors exploding. More fruit forward. Licorice, currants coming through. Long finish. Medium body. Doesnt feel 100% cab. Some tannic finish. Giving 95 as it seems to be more merlot as some have suggested

April 21, 2017 - Lovely wine, perhaps a bit overwhelmed by the Elk Steak with which it was served - still wanted to drink it longer but only had a small taste

November 19, 2016 - Napa Valley Master Class with Robert Parker; 11/10/2016-11/20/2016 (Napa Valley): During a tasting lunch at Colgin. Lots of blueberry in the nose, some oak and bakery, touch of smoke. Rich on the palate, very soft tannins, creamy mouthfeel. This smells and feels like a Pomerol/Merlot. Aromatically not complex enough for a score beyond 95.

November 6, 2015 - 2015 Villa d’Este Wine Symposium - Kelly and Kevin's excellent adventure; 11/3/2015-11/9/2015 (Villa D’este, Lake Como): The nose is sweeter than the herb lamb. Blueberry jam, strong note of cassis, mocha, milk chocolate, Colgin coconut/vanilla, cedar and a hint of dust. Excellent concentration, cassis driven palate impression, cool and polished, bright acidity and noticeable but sweet tannins.

April 19, 2015 - Unexpectedly big, rich and almost funky or clumsy. Not as elegant as I had expected it to be. Had a Herb Lamb beside it and that was much more elegant and enjoyable right now. Certainly needs more time.

March 17, 2014 - Very pretty nose of blue and black fruit, some spice and pepper. Forward and ripe. Sleek and smooth on the palate. Powerful but elegant. Long finish.
