April 14, 2012 - My second bottle is also bad. Too old! Why is saying until 2016

April 7, 2012 - I was unimpressed by this bottle. Too old? A little off? Color murky

March 4, 2011 - Decanted for 30 minutes. Dark red. Enormously ebullient perfumed nose of pepper, bacon fat and flowers. Lithe and elegant but plenty of density. A graceful and delicious bottle of Syrah.

March 12, 2010 - Agree with the green comments. This is better on the second day, but still green with an otherwise promising nose but thin mid-palate and finish.

March 8, 2010 - Green. Green notes on the nose, with a touch of coffee reduction which does drift away. This is a wine most definitely on the edge. I can't tell if the strong green notes on both the nose and palate are due to whole cluster fermentation, underripe cool climate fruit, or a combination of both. The palate just barely pushes into drinkable range, with tight, reserved, raspberry and strawberry flavors, strong acidity, and plenty of "green-ness". I could chip on to this wine from 50 yards in.

24 hours later: still some green on the nose, seems to be a little less on the palate. But that just reveals more underripe fruit and tart acidity. I normally love what Failla does, but this wine is Fail-la.
