June 8, 2018 - Last of the set I bought on Woot after the close-out of the vineyard. It seems I saved the best for last, wonderfully deep and darkly complex after a night on the shelf.
Striking is the depth of color, opaque deep dark delicious purple. Also striking is the nose, mostly floral; blueberry, blackberry, raspberry petals. A great deal of promise of something light fun and frivolous. I mentioned the notion of something akin to a painted lady, my friend laughed and dismissed this offering, suggesting instead the notion of a hostess from a Tolstoy novel. Recognising the brilliance of this insight I immediately offered up Anna Pavlovna. He demurred, saying he had in mind a younger, more exuberant and carefree persona, then mentioned Helene Kuragina. Smiling, I saw his wisdom, and we laughed riotous laughter together. Hemingway then punched us each in the nose.
88 points is about right. If you happen upon this in friends wine fridge encourage the exploration. Pop it open early in the evening, decant it fully, and a few hours of patience will likely be well rewarded.

September 9, 2014 - Pretty nice. Light to medium-bodied, some spice and sweetness, not so concentrated or complex, but lively and pleasant. Holds up well on the 2nd day. Great value.

May 8, 2012 - Keeps getting better. Deep and dark in color. Flavor has filled out and integrated. Complex flavors of mostly dark fruits like plum and blueberry. Secondary touches of pipe tobacco and earth. Smooth and full body with a nice long finish. Drinking especially well right now.
