October 9, 2017 - One of the best wines I have had. Reminded me of a marines we had in Italy with both taste and nose.

October 1, 2017 - Perfection. Does not get much better than this. Decanted for a few hours and wow. Magic. Just like Parker said:"...gorgeous display of measured, but substantial fruit, body and intensity." Simply great!

August 27, 2017 - Shafer and Scarecrow at South End in New Canaan (South End New Canaan): Decanted this for 2 hours before serving. Served right after the 2002 so it had some steep competition but this really held it's own. Got sweet cherries on the nose again along with blackberry, cassis, herb and mocha. Flavors of blackberry, kirsch liquor, chocolate, plum and a touch of cedar. Ends with a plum and cherry infused finish of around 50 seconds, right behind the 2002. Amazing to see the differences between these two wines. It's almost like all the same parts were there but just mixed up in a different way between the two years. Best showing of this wine for me yet.

August 2, 2017 - Salon, Hillside Select Vertical, ZH, Bernabeleva (Our home): Not quite as good as a bottle a few years ago. I wonder if this was hurt by pop and pour (or not). Purple in color, ruby at the rim. The nose has cassis, toast, and a bit of green bell pepper. Some found that last one a bit distracting. I had no issue with it. There was an odd quality to this wine as at time it seemed under ripe and at other times over ripe. I do think some air would have made it more consistent but I am not sure where it might have settled down. That said, those are nit picks on a tremendous wine. It drinks "Bordeaux" like in a sense. Cassis, some sweet fruit, some bell pepper. Medium tannins. Long finish. I hate saying a wine is in an odd place, but perhaps this one was. Still, had it been on its own with dinner, it would have been great. #spoiled

June 24, 2017 - Deep dark purple. Completely opaque.

    Decanted for 3 hours.

Really good. Tannins completely mellowed and fruit on point. I got less complexity on the pallet than would have taken to make this a truly great one - there's oak but couldn't get much else - but definitely still very happy to have had this. Finish goes on for days (or at least 30 seconds).

Definitely has the structure and power to last another 5 years but not sure it can go 10 unless you like something much more mellow fruit wise. For me this is in a really nice drinking window where everything is put together but the fruit is still really bright.
