September 1, 2022 - Decanted off sediment, followed for two hours.

Lovely mature nose primarily of earth with deep integrated but subtle fruit. Palate has retained good acidity, which in turn elevates the fruit to a powdery pink floral tone. Velvety and integrated tannins. There is structure from oak but essentially no tasting signs of it being present. The finish doesn’t last forever but it has enough power to stick around.

This is a lovely and elegant take on California Cabernet. Not overripe or over oaked. This is drinking very well now without signs of being tired.

Drink now or hold for a little while longer.

June 2, 2021 - Lovely nose of camphor, black and blue berries with a beautiful perfume of violets and baking spices. The color was a gorgeous deep red with a medium body. Just a whiff of green peppers, tellicherry black pepper, mocha, and mint. I’m sad this is my last bottle because it is so well integrated and drinking so well al this time.

April 17, 2021 - Ruby red. Beautiful fruity and floral nose. Decanted for 30 minutes, which was sufficient. Modest amount of sediment. This wine is a blockbuster. Silky smooth texture. A full, fruity burst of flavor with some secondary notes of moist earth and camphor. Black raspberries, plums, currants, baking spice and a hint of cola and toast. This is big without being overwhelming or heavy. Fantastic and still on the young side. Hard to postpone having another....

January 31, 2021 - Deep brooding blue/purple. Marvellous wine. Wonderful dark fruit and cassis on the nose. Beautiful oak integration, chewy tannins. Texture is like molasses, incredible viscosity and malleability of the wine. Concentrated flavours of red and black fruit, menthol and liquorice. Still just an infant with 20 or 30 years to go. Brilliant expression of Napa Cabernet, top 10 for sure.

November 1, 2020 - Another great bottle. 2 hour decant. Mint and camphor nose, with raspberries, licorice and a bit of coffee. Rich mouthfeel. A bushel of fruit and chocolate that is quickly followed by secondary notes of licorice, cinnamon, toast and a very long finish. Great wine, great vintage.

August 15, 2020 - Consistent with recent bottles. Excellent. Needed the 2 hour decant and continued to evolve in the glass.

November 2, 2019 - 1 hour decant. Consistent with last bottle. Hitting a good place, but many years to go.

June 8, 2019 - I bought these during a brief flirtation with Kapcsandy wines. It was brief largely because I can't spell the name without doing research.

OK, back to reality. Dark fruited on the nose, black cherries. The palate is dense with currants, black cherries, semi-sweet chocolate, bit of tobacco. Nice acidity. The tannins are bearable, but really need another year or two to soften (for my taste anyway). Luckily there is enough fruit here to keep waiting. Good balance. Long, lingering finish of dark fruits and spice. I'd drink these over the next 4 years, but I'd prefer to wait 1 or 2 first. 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 4% Cab Franc. 14.1% ABV.
