July 26, 2020 - Solid but not remarkable for age and price point.

July 4, 2020 - Fully open and integrated. Rich, deliciously bold blackberry flavors with long finish. Great, great wine. Tasted more like a Bone Rock than a GSM

May 3, 2020 - Dark purple in color. Notes of cassis, dark chocolate, baking spices and tobacco. Dry, med body, med acidity and grippy tannins. Still lots of life left in this wine.

September 10, 2019 - Fruit driven, with lots of black fruit - blackberry, black cherry, and something more exotic you don't get in Cabernet that I can't name. Over a few hours there is complexity in the fruit at the aromas vary over time. Certainly there are oak notes too, oak, tar, and some vanilla and chocolate. Perhaps a hint of pepper at times, but not much. This is certainly riper than Northern Rhone wines, but unlike the 2005 Cayuse Cailloux, I had recently it has less of the pepper and bacon notes. It is also less elegant and riper than the Cayuse. My biggest beef is that the alcohol is too noticeable, with a burning finish on the palate. In fact, when sticking my nose it the glass the alcohol actually bothers my nose like a Cognac might. Certainly over the top. I didn't notice that with the 2010 Broken Stones but that vintage was supposedly cooler. This wine shows it's 15.5% too well. It's well made and certainly got years ahead of it.
