March 23, 2019 - Earthy and dark fruit. Pretty tertiary at this stage. Sweet oaky spices on the palate.

February 4, 2019 - Great nose, bright fruits, but on the palate its an acid bomb. No better the second night.

November 3, 2018 - Tasted blind among several 1er and GC wines: enormously profuse nose of Framboise, literally screams red fruit. Great depth of flavors yet little evolution into complexity. While initially surprised to see what it was, shouldn't have been. Leroy's bourgognes always seem to be the biggest and craziest when young yet who ever keeps them long enough to see what they turn into? For me, the '99 is just beginning to emerge. Bought a bunch of the '05s and '09s, the '09 is oddly more accessible. Both are giant impenetrable walls of fruit which I always have difficulty assigning a score to. Wasn't going to score this either but since our group ranks favorites individually and as a group, just had to. More of a cerebral and predictive exercise here rather than a true joy to drink/ I'm still convinced that they must source a lot of great grapes and juice for this each year, including much declassified solid name vineyards.
