April 27, 2018 - Opened and decanted for an hour. Not much complexity, drinkable but not really enjoyable. Deep red color.

May 13, 2017 - I don't think this one is past the drinking window but I also see no reason to continue holding. While I like the Solos in general, they always taste one dimensional to me with my primary complaint being that the tannins don't blend well with the fruit on the front of the palate.

That being said, the 2004 is better balanced than most, and quite delicious on day two. I've got a half case of the 2009 sitting in the cellar and I've adjusted the drinking window for that back to 2019-2021 based on this bottle.

January 23, 2016 - Some fruit on the palate and some softer tannins at first but not really well structured beyond that. Perhaps this is past its prime.

November 16, 2015 - The wine is past its time. It had no fruit left and little flavor.

January 4, 2015 - Nose of dark cherry fruit, plum, and dust, more of the same on the palate, nice wine, touch simple, auction bottle for $42, medium body and medium/long finish, average Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.

December 31, 2011 - Dark purple. Restrained nose of cassis, black fruit and a little of that pencil lead/graphite. All front palate. Weak, not so concentrated mid palate and weak finish. This wine is testament to the fact that although the 04 vintage was very tasty upon release, the modern style of ultra plush napa cab cannot age well. I too bought this wine at the winery a few years ago. As far as the price goes, well, you win some, you lose some. Thankfully, a lot of the super priced wines have come back down to reality via flash sites or discount clearance from the winery and many can now be purchased at more realistic prices and rightfully so. Time to come back down to earth Napa.

April 17, 2011 - big black fruit on the nose and palate. Still a bit on the chewy side but mellowed out with air time. Though I enjoyed the wine, I too have had much better for and less than the price.
