January 27, 2011 - Still a nice wine for 8-bucks with a screw top. A bit of a stinky nose but a nice body and long aftertaste.
December 19, 2010 - Nose: slightly floral with a little funk, pepper, and dark cherries and plum
Palate: a hint of veggies with a tobacco undertone, milk chocolate covered berries wrapped in plum skin
November 4, 2010 - We're not usually big Syrah fans, but do like a nice Cab. The blend here works pretty well,, even if this should have been tasted some time ago. LIke the other comments,,nice body, but not so sharp or heavy that you couldn't stand another sip. Tobacco, vanilla, and dark, leathery cherries seem to be the main tastes. Can't pin the nose though. Saw the comments abot burned rubber but,, not that strong, at this late date. Worth a sip,, but I wish I had found it last year..
June 20, 2008 - I'm not especially fond of Shiraz or Cabernet. This is a 50/50 blend of both. This is actually a very nice wine. Good concentration and depth of flavor, better than most Cali reds in this price point. Some tobacco notes which were interesting.
June 19, 2008 - Big, fruity, and a touch green. Simple but what the hey! Why not drink it. Vegetal on the cab side notes Lisa.
May 17, 2008 - NO NOSE ON OPENING, EXPLODES IN THE MONTH. TASTES LIKE A PINOT NIOR. NEEDS AIR, MAYBE A DECANT TO REALLY OPEN UP
April 23, 2008 - Earthy and rustic, this 50/50 blend of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon begins with a touch of barnyard on the noses but gushes with flavors of cherry cola, red plum, and pomegranate, with a dusting of tobacco and dried herbs on the back palate. Simple, but pleasurable.
April 12, 2008 - good as usual, agree with billyg.
January 3, 2008 - Strong smell of alcohol on opening. Plum, blackerries and a touch of black pepper on the finish. Mild tannins stay on the palat for a while. Better with 30-60 minutes of decantind. An very good wine at this price.
December 30, 2007 - Agree with earlier review on rubber smell, almost burnt rubber upon opening. Decanted, enjoyed a small glass for about 45 minutes a little sip at a time. Once the wine breathed for about an hour to an hour and a half, it became very drinkable. Almost all of the burnt rubber taste dissipated and what was left was a pretty damn good bottle for $6. I tasted mostly dark fruit and a little black pepper spice. Great QPR. In addition, they donate $.50 of every bottle to charitable organizations like battered women's shelters and cancer research organizations as a tribute to their late mother, which gives kind of a nice feeling about buying the bottle.
