    August 29, 2021 - First of three bottles purchased at auction.
    Cork in deplorable condition, came out little by little mostly in dust form.
    Base neck fill and hue quite good for Nebbiolo which always shows some amber.
    Textbook tar and roses aromas. Tannins still quite firm as we often see from the 78 vintage. The texture and balance leave a little to be desired but this could result from the terrible cork. Still very enjoyable; maybe the others will show better

    April 8, 2009 - Monthly Tasting Group HWS #035; Southern Italy. (By RvD): Complex bouquet. Mature but certainly no too old yet. Full bodied and juicy. Ripe red fruits. Autumn forest. Well, not really superb, but certainly a nice surprise. Still very much alive and kicking. The score tells it all.

    December 21, 2007 - Amazingly fresh and fruit-forward for a 30 year old. Tarry-meaty flavors dominate the cherry, and the supporting acid makes everything zesty. Tannins are like gentle, downy feathers. There are still legs on this wine, so I wish I had more.

    November 1, 2007 - I never would have guessed Nebbiolo blind. Such an uncharacteristic expression of aged Nebbiolo--or as someone suggested maybe the juice isnt entirely Nebbiolo. Distinct nose and palate of coffee with some chocolate and dark fruit. fun to drink regardless

    October 23, 2007 - Once a Month begins with Nebbiolo; 10/20/2007-10/22/2008 (NYC): We switched to older wines with this flight and this offered a pretty impressive package with it's rich nose full of earth, tea, veal stock, cold coffee, light fresh funghi note all turning very beefy and bloody with air and throwing in one stinky sock adding complexity. Fairly round and rich in the mouth with a block feel to the meaty, dark fruits. Still some lingering tannins that drive the savory, espresso crema finish. Not this most typical Nebbiolo but at peak and holding well. 2007-2017
