Community Tasting Notes 4

March 1, 2021 - New varietal to me. From own-rooted 68 year old vines planted in 1951 by Ewald and his father. Flinty on the nose, with fizzy lime juice, fresh cut tart apples and prickly acidity. Somewhat short finish, but the nose keeps me going back to this glass. Gained much more depth on day 2. Would give this a bit more time in bottle.

February 27, 2021 - really electric and intense. super high acid from 69 year-old own-rooted vines. perfect complement to end-of-week Gen Japanese takeout: broiled Kinmedai (red snapper), Asari Tsukudani (tiny clams), gyoza and godzilla roll (shrimp & eel). Bravo Ewald!

November 28, 2020 - From memory. Pale yellow. Nose is citrus and wet stone. Palate is very dry, citrus driven and very mineral. Quite good.

October 24, 2020 - Floral and musky with apple notes and chalk on the nose. Palate is sharper than the nose with green apple, honeysuckle, and slate in addition to the chalk.
