Community Tasting Notes 5

December 31, 2018 - A bit closed upfront. Gradually dark, earthy cherries emerging. A wee hint of anise. Deep and dense. Plenty of material. Still 5-10 years from peak, I reckon.

July 9, 2017 - Not quite up to the standard of my previous bottle, but still a remarkable wine for the modest price I paid ten years ago. Dark, earthy, and quite solid. The most Piemonteish Cote de Beaune I've ever had.

October 15, 2016 - Amazing. Simply amazing. Cost less than most Bourgogne Rouge do these days, and taste all the way to Burgundy heaven - or as close as one can possibly conceive given that it's a red Chassagne. Better and better in the glass, and the last sip the very best - as per usual.

July 29, 2012 - Opened a bottle last night at a pinot tasting and drank it over several hours. Sorry i waited for this long because of all the pinots tasted everyone thought this was completely played out and way past it's prime. Nothing left. I will drink the remaining bottles I have asap to get rid of it and definitely not share this again with any wine friends

January 17, 2011 - Another attempt to check on the status of an '05 following the curious case of the strange Auxey Duresses from a few days ago. Enticing nose with deep red berry and cherry fruit and an over-arching trace of minerals. Generous and forward fruit in the mouth but there's a quick tug that shuts it down as it crosses the mid-palate into a taut tannic finish. I'm guessing this is at an awkward state at the moment and will snap out of it into whatever pretty little butterfly it's capable of becoming over the next year or two.
