February 17, 2024 - The 2018 Chateau Montelena is not the Montelena that I'm accustomed to. This particular vintage is way less concentrated than other vintages. In the past they have been overly fruity, and very dense. I sipped it over three evenings with consistent results. It could use a bit more time. Is it worth $70 a bottle? I'm not sure.
December 10, 2023 - Good wine good acidity but too much vanilla, hope this gets reduced with age but right now its rather Paso Robles vanilla heavy. A bit disappointed.

April 30, 2023 - Truly a delicious bottle. Hasn’t gotten that patented Montelena feel but extremely close. Let it age.
March 1, 2023 - Primary flavors, fruit forward but with residual tannins. Overall, very enjoyable after one plus hour decant.
December 29, 2022 - Light blackberry character with a light vanilla note with a slight bell pepper note on the aroma with a similar character on the palate. Medium-plus tannins with a gritty character. Acidity is medium-plus. Medium body. Overall, it is a pleasant wine that is more refined than a traditional old school big Napa.
November 20, 2022 - Thought it was excellent. First time to try this wine. really appreciated the lack of overwhelming oak notes present in many napa cabs, as well as its more restrained style. Needed a good 2 hr decant to open up.
October 30, 2022 - Pop and pour for Chris and Emily's engagement party. Not particularly complex and a slightly sour note front palate just after opening.
