Community Tasting Notes 3

  • Eudemis Likes this wine:

December 4, 2016 - Dark colour, showing barely a hint of maturity. The nose is somewhat reticent, with a suggestion of blueberry. The mouth is much more forthcoming, not unlike a Chateauneuf du Pape, only slightly less opulent. It achieves the feat of being both broad and nimble, thanks to excellent balancing acidity. No obvious oak, and the alcohol does not protrude (13.5%). Altogether a harmonious winter wine. One of my better encounters with Bandol.

February 17, 2014 - Starting to settle and hit some middle age but retains plenty of class and structure. Tannins are at the fore, sandy and long, and are a good match for dark inky fruits. Not fruity at all but deep and serious. Slight funky edge to finish.

April 13, 2010 - A brooding, dark fruited and dry red of high order. Amazing that it never gets dense and dumb and cloying, and almost seemed to get lighter (relatively speaking) in the mouth the longer it was decanted. Nice tannin action here; slightly grainy but otherwise well suited. Durif-like with inky drying fruits. Far too young to consumer at 6 years of age however a small question mark as to whether the fruit will stay with the sturdy structure. Drink 2013+.
