May 3, 2024 - Wow, this has really come into itself. Medium-deep gold appearance (and it's Riesling!). Strong aromas of beeswax, honey, green apple, white flowers, sea breeze, and the petrol is starting to sneak in. Palate leads with the green apple and apricot, finishing with honeysuckle and minerality. Lots of complexity here, lengthy finish, high acid. Phenomenal. So happy we still have one in the cellar!

August 3, 2023 - 7th of 11 bottles (2 gifted). PnP. Pale golden. Apples. pears on the nose. Grapefruit, lime and apples on the intensely flavored palate. This, the 2019 Classique, widely available at discount, is unique and a stunning value. A great introduction to Forge Cellars. (89-91).

July 11, 2023 - PnP. Nose of grass, and palate of intense - very intense - grapefruit and lime, a unique flavor profile. Almost a "fruit" wine. Displaying more concentrated than my last bottle, consumed just one week ago. With airing, the intensity of the fruit mellows just a bit, and the wine displays just a touch of minerality. Forge is a special producer of Finger Lakes wines. This, Forge's entry level cuvee, is an excellent value, until recently available in my area, incredibly, on sale for as little as $13 a bottle. For more complexity, check out Forge's single vineyard bottlings, which come at a slightly higher tariff.

July 4, 2023 - No contemporaneous notes. With air, becomes very aromatic, pears and other fruits. Light to medium bodied, bone dry. Nice, but other bottles have been better.

Lots of citrus on the nose, very lemony with a whiff of petrol. The palate is tart, high acid, salty finish. I liked it most with some air and not so cold. I didn’t get the floral notes I usually get with riesling. While the Forge Dry Classique is usually one of my go-to rieslings, this was not my favorite vintage (2019 was a tough one in the Finger Lakes region)

February 25, 2023 - My 4th bottle of 8; 2 gifted. PnP. Unlike my first bottle this required some air time to open up. Lovely entry level offering from Forge, and possibly the best dry Riesling value currently available. (90-91).
