November 6, 2021 - Nothing special. bitterness in the back end that is not pleasant and does not go away. Red fruits holding up wel. Maybe the bitterness will resolve with time.

May 29, 2020 - This is perfectly fine. Maybe at the cusp of its peak -- or near the top of the downhill. Some subtle sous bois, faded red fruits, and a pleasant finish. As noted before, nothing that pops out. But also no clear flaws.

June 29, 2019 - Limited fruit profile, barnyard, some raisin. Brown on the edges. Still drinkable but in a rustic, old style. Very little fresh fruit left. If you like old style, you will like this. Hetting toward its end but not there yet. 30 minute aeration prior to tasting.

December 10, 2018 - Unlike the bottle we had last August 30th, this bottle was dominated by raisins. Still drinkable but not to our liking so much. Hopefully it is just bottle to bottle variation.

September 26, 2018 - As with the previous note, this was good. A bit more interesting on first opening but becoming more pedestrian with time in the glass. Good drinking, but no wow factor here.

August 30, 2018 - dark garnet red, slight brick edge, a slight earthy dark berry nose initially, full body with earth, mixed ripe berry fruit, tannins are integrated fully, ending with a medium length finish. Note: the initial reluctant bouquet continued to expand over the next 2!/2 hr. It would be best to open the next bottle a couple of hours and decant ahead of dinner.

August 30, 2018 - Garnet in color with slight ruby edge. Nose of strawberries and leather with hint of earth. Taste of cherries, leather, and hints of smoke box and cedar. Very dry. Resolved tannins. Well balanced acidity. Drinking nicely, but past prime. Works well with food.

May 19, 2018 - Last bottle. similar to my last tasting but more advanced in all good ways. Substantial bricking around the edges. Initially the nose had an unpleasant reductive funk that blew off after about an hour. There are liqueur and metallic elements on the nose. In the mouth there is some blood iron, roasted red and blue fruits, spice, earth and coffee. The tannins have softened. Very interesting and pleasurable. Still very much alive the next day in a recorked bottle.

April 14, 2018 - Medium heavy body, nicely integrated tannins. Very long, dark stone fruit flavors with spice. Excellent and still lots of life
The wine looks garnet colored. The legs are medium. There is moderate sediment in the bottle. It smells like strawberry jam, prune, mushroom, cinnamon and black pepper. Hugh Johnson 2018 Wine Guide indicates this is drinking optimally and from a very good vintage. I agree.
