February 7, 2009 - Color (5/5) is a dark but vibrant garnet purple. Nose (12/15) of earthy black cherry and marzipan plum leaps from the bottle on opening. Juicy palate of rich cherry plum with a hint of creamy wood. Long Dr. Pepper/cherry finish (16/20). Very nice Cal-Ital blend showing that a wine doesn't have to be pricey to show excellence (7/10). Have this with or without food.

December 2, 2008 - Straight out of the bottle this wine is superb! Eminently drinkable on its own or with food (spaghetti with meat sauce tonight), very smooth, well balanced and delicious. Tanins are firm but far from overpowering, and the fruit is fully there but neither cloy nor, well, fruity. Balanced is the definitely right word for this one. This is not a wine to open if you're not prepared to drink the whole bottle at once because I, at least, cannot put this one down.

July 17, 2008 - Nice sangiovese blend. Easy drinking but with some decent depth added from the cab sav and cab franc. A bit more oak than I would have liked but it didn't really take away from the earthy fruit. Still needs about a half hour or so of air time to really open up.
