December 2, 2022 - Even better than my memory of this before, lovely crisp white.
August 25, 2022 - Serious and complex. Seawater, lemon, curd, lees? Palate nicely acidic and salty big time. Lemon here too and grapefruit. So much mineral and acid it’s just lively and lovely.
December 18, 2021 - Intriguing combination of citrus and melon notes with very bright finish. Delivers so much more than I would ever expect at this low $.
December 5, 2021 - This is excellent honey colored Alvaro go that has structure and depth and coats the palate - or better caresses- on the way down. Ability to âge a few years but no need to wait. Very nice
November 6, 2021 - Tasted double blind. Clear, bright, light-straw color. Aromas of limestone-mineral, quince, jasmine, hints of melon, white pepper and orange zest. Crisp and textural on the palate. Crushed stone mineral notes and citrus, pear, dried florals and white pepper. Nice acidity, good overall depth.
August 19, 2021 - Summer of 2021 Cornucopia of Wines (Dogwood Grove, Garezers, HHI): Super floral nose which really wows you. Love these dry and still vinho verdes – so unexpected to get a serious wine from this region and one that lacks effervescence. Nice flavors of honeydew, cantaloupe and honey.
August 16, 2021 - Single blind tasting
Pale straw
Aromatics medium +. Peach blossom, orange peel. Rounded full nose
Palate has medium body. Acid medium +. Phenolics medium. Alcohol medium. Ripe peach, meyer lemon.
Finish has medium + length. Balanced
Dry glass notes muted, almost cardboard
Overall nice fruit based Alvarinho
Drink now, has the structure for more aging if desired though
August 9, 2021 - Pale gold color
Medium plus aromas of lime/ lemon zest/ citrus blossom and orange oil - high complexity and extended skin contact appears to have really intensified terpenic concentration
Medium bodied with palate of stonefruit - ripe peach and pear with Meyer lemon
Medium plus acidity with medium alcohol and moderate phenolic bitterness, but not as much as I was expecting
Nice length
Concentrated Albarino (Alvarinho) on the nose and palate - really nice
Drink now or hold 3-5 yrs
July 3, 2021 - Day 1 - Focused high toned aroma consisting of lemon, green lime/apple, and flint/smokiness not too far away from wet wool. Shape/texture of acidity is like soft wool knit again - horizontally broad, vertically a little puffy/airy with nerve, with gently piercing sensation on surface. Aftertaste contains some hint of grape innerskin jelly-ish flesh, amino acid umami, and slight tannin - the wine appears bone-dry initially but leaves moderately ripe and subtly rich/warm impression at the end. Refreshing, typical, with added touch of uniqueness. 89.
Day 4 - Improved. gained additional layer of apple cider. Acidity got more rounded, keeping the same airy texture. 90.
June 18, 2021 - Grows on you on day 2 - nose of lemon-lime pith then big tart grapefruit and stony minerals are made fleshy as it warms a bit in the glass for a nice tangy lemon cream tart bite of acid which lingers on the back palate. Apricot jam and a kick of mild pepper spice on the finish rounds this out. I keep pouring and returning to it, so yeah, it's a decent sipper worth seeking out.
