April 11, 2024 - Soft. Pure. Excellent finesse. Young, a dark fruit streak and a bit firm on the finish but really lovely.

February 2, 2024 - Seemed quite closed upon opening but after 3-4 hours of air the wine started to show its magic. cherry, tart, spices, rose petals, tea, menthol. Beautiful tannin structure. Too young tho. Keep for another 6 years.

December 17, 2023 - Such a pure and unadulterated Barolo. Cherry fruit on the nose and palate. Rose petals, sweet earth, blood, menthol and tarry notes. Great flesh and presence in the mouth. Good tannic chew and long and expansive. Too young but very delicious. Served from Magnum.

November 29, 2023 - Piemonte: Truffles instead of Turkey; 11/23/2023-12/2/2023 (Barolo, Barbaresco, Alto Piemonte and of course Alba): Always a really lovely wine and this was no different. It’s a classic Barolo, more approachable now than it probably has a right to be but with good stuffing that will last as well. This is a bit of an easier year and we picked for that reason (they had a few on the list from the last ~5 releases). One of the benchmarks of the area.

November 7, 2023 - 14.5% ABV. Uncorked one night prior to serving.
First impression with small pour into Zwiesel Giacomo Conterno Sensory glass at 21:45 Nov 7 (“Fruit” day) - Bright ruby with garnet hues. Tarry spices, florals, menthol herbal notes, liqueur red cherry fruits. Youthful and still relatively closed.
Same first pour at 22:05 Nov 7 - hints of rose petals, cocoa, black tea leaves and dark red wild bramble berries emerged.
Again same first pour at 22:15 Nov 7 - blood orange with peels, cinnamon like sweet spices emerged.
Continued at 23:05 Nov 7 - more red cherry fruits at this stage that is arguably more integrated on the nose.
23:25 Nov 7 - finally opening up for the initial stage with highly detailed red cherries, wild berries and menthol notes. Tarry spices, dried florals. Cocoa nuances too. First taste on palate (from first pour) with minerality and “zen” like integration and balance. Ultra suave and silky tannins and very long finish. 95 points easy.
19:25 Nov 8 (“Fruit” day) served into Zalto Burgundy glass - opening up nicely with more medicinal herbs, rose petals, red cherries. Very nicely silky tannin. Retain at 95 points.
19:45 Nov 8 (“Fruit” day) - even more generous now with earthy dried florals, red berries, cherry liqueur, fine and highly integrated tannins. Best showing at this point.
20:00 Nov 8 (“Fruit” day) - back to tarry spices and more complete fruit spectrum here. Earthy florals and more textural tannins showing the powerful side of the wine.4 people found this helpful Comment
