Medium taste of peach, white peach, lime, ripe green apples, mango, flint, honey, papaya and wet stone. Long and dry finish. High acidity. Medium body. A very good Riesling GG with good concentration. Drink now or over the next five years. Goes well with fish, shellfish, spicy or sushi.

July 15, 2023 - I really like the energy and freshness. Feels a bit too young without food, but tackles summer rolls with various dips very well.

February 19, 2023 - A wonderful, classic Riesling, drunk much too young, much too late in the evening, after much too many other bottles of good wine. Lemon, lime, green apples, and lots of petroleum on the nose. Good volume in the mouth, high acidity (surprise!), good green apple fruit, and a long aftertaste dominated by lemon and green apples. A smashing Riesling, give it at least five more years.

May 8, 2022 - Brilliant green and yellow with a deep straw core. Impressive already on the eye. A bit muted at first, but opens after an hour or so: green apples, lime, a hint of lanolin (oil), and a chalky undertone Complex. Full bodied attack, almost a bit sweet. Then the acidity kicks in, cleansing the palate and lifting it all to a wonderfully fresh mouthful of green apples, citrus and lime. The aftertaste displays an almost tannic side where the chalky tones are allowed to linger. Very long. This is still an infant and deserves at least five more years in the cellar. Wonderful, however, with braised salmon. Will earn a higher score in 3-5 years.

    January 19, 2022 - Tasted Blind

A: Pale gold (perhaps from lees ageing)
N: Pronounced nose of cheese and yoghurt, lemon verbena, lime, saline, wet rock, peach, honeysuckle
P: Dry, high acidity, medium alcohol, pronounced intensity med boy and medium (+) finish. The Most PIQUANT wine I have ever had.
C: The acidity seems way up there and is screaming above the rest of the orchestra so not balanced. The lovely primary fruit, earth and florals are of great intensity and provide a good finish. The wine is not complex but shows great typicity.

Guesses: Riesling. I didn't get the petroleum till very late. The acidity tingle on the inside of the cheeks was very Riesling like and the fruit and florals were consistent for the grape.

This is suitable for ageing, That acid would keep it fresh or eons and the lees and primary elements and very faint petroleum would develop more complexity over time.

Apparently , The Nahe region is known for producing very PIQUANT riesling and it was very dry owing to the GG status. They are all dry. Its the Grand Cru of Germany with strict rules such as wine must be released on September 1st after the vintage year. People are clearly breaking the rules. This wine seems to have been on the lees a lot longer than that given the color and taste profile.

Would have been awesome with OYSTERS

October 16, 2021 - This has everything i want in a German GG; succulent acidity, perfect ripeness and superb intensity of flavor with a stony, mineral finish. Off the list at Joomak, NYC.

March 18, 2021 - Light golden with brilliant glimmers at the rim. Intense and extremely lemony nose at first sniff. After warming up and getting some air, the wine moves into a riper territory of lime, bergamot, and green apples. Underneath there is a heavy tone of slate and petroleum, not yet very developed. Medium to full bodied attack with a sweet fruit with hints of licorice (?). On the mid palate, the wine expands into green apples, lime and and some peach. Quite a lot of dry extract here. Then the acidity kicks in, leaving a citrusy aftertaste that is long and almost sharp. Very good length, tones of green apples at the finish. This is clearly to young, but I guess it will evolve to more mature fruit in a couple of years and then into a mineral monster in five to ten years time. Hold!
