September 30, 2023 - I have waited a while to taste this and find it soft and quite attractive but really too sweet and simple. The nose opened nicely over an hour or two and the wine showed attractive fruit (damson, raspberry) with some acidity and perhaps a little spice but the overwhelming impression is of soft blandness. The oak is subtle and this is an ‘easy drinking’ wine but it lacks the ‘heft’ and depth of character that I usually expect from a Californian Zin.
A pity. I have enjoyed Wente whites for many years but this will be a pleasant one-off. It is not cheap in UK. -

September 1, 2023 - Full fruit cassis and dark fruits and some nice spice. Great with bbq but overall rather too sweet a Zin for me.
