    February 20, 2019 - Surprisingly youthful, and what silky tannins, tasted blind, Bordeaux for sure but got the vintage all wrong, thought it was less than 20 years but the silky tannins should have point me in the other direction. A real classic and what a joy to drink this with friends who appreciate aged Bordeaux! Bravo!

    February 1, 2019 - What a surprise! Tempting in many aspects. Beautiful earthy notes in the nose. In the mouth the earthiness was combined with leather, cigars, against a background of freshness with notes of mint. Long lasting. A beauty! A noble wine.

    April 15, 2018 - Splendid: I had been worried because of earlier tasting notes, but this was a very well cellared bottle and it was in its prime. Lovely bitter oranges and alcoholic cake. Glorious and memorable

    December 10, 2015 - The nose was spectacular, but the wine was slightly corked sadly resulting in a disappointingly short finish with a slight metallic note at the back of the tongue. Nose of spices, leather, a little (red) fruit and rose (?) which soared from the glass. The wine had velvety-smooth tannins, and if the taste and length had been anywhere near delivering on the promise of the bouquet, then this would have been 93-94.

    Would love for there to be an opportunity to taste a flawless bottle.

    April 3, 2015 - Wish we had drunk this three years ago! Nice brick colour, still quite dense. Nose dominated by wet cellar, then herbs, spices, currants. Soft tannins, pleasant acidity. Fruit fading. Still - very well balanced, with a long, complex aftertaste. It is too old now (but it has admittedly aged very gracefully).

    November 26, 2014 - MASTER AIS BORDEAUX; 10/22/2014-11/30/2014 (HOTEL WESTIN PALACE MILANO): Degustato alla cieca. 60% Merlot - 30% Cabernet Franc - 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. 100% legno nuovo.
    Rubino violaceo che tradisce l' età.
    Molto chiuso, sgombro sotto sale e parvenza di TCA. Riduzione vegetale al rosmarino. Necessario caraffare.
    In bocca ha massa, presa virile e poche sfumature, vino virile e d' impatto.
    La sensazione è quella di un vino più facile da decifrare, acidità molto presente e lo rende più liquido di quanto non sia ed è ben amalgamata a toni canditi.
    Tannino espansivo e spugnoso, tabaccoso e meno dolce rispetto agli altri vini, non si avverte il legno nuovo.
    Il finale è rigoroso e cadenzato, ricorda il sale e i semi di senape.
    Buon vino da pasto.

    June 7, 2014 - Bordeaux 1988 Horizontal Tasting: Tasted blinds: Clear red, showing some signs of bricking. Herbal and leathery nose. The wine is smooth, elegant, and everything is nicely integrated. Still plenty of juice left. On the negative side the 88 Vieux Certan is a bit dry, acidic and tannic. Still overall a solid wine to drink now.

    December 7, 2013 - Considering my first bottle was a deception, this one was not so bad!
    Yes it was over it's peak, but the tones of good old Pomerol were very enjoyable.

    November 1, 2013 - BON fill. Ruby, garnet rim. Nose dominated by ceder wood. Behind all this you can sense some vanilla, leather and violets. Polished down tannins which are ripe and available. A bit lean palate with a medium finish. Fruits seems to be fading. With time and air it tightens up at bit and gets more fruity. Cassis is coming up as a more dominating aroma. Still this is a wine in its prime and will probably fade within few years. Drink now - 2018.
