September 3, 2014 - Medium dark red color. Mostly a chocolate raspberry nose, with a bit of raisin, prune and a growing stamp of oak spices. On arrival, low tannin and medium-low acidity. Fruit is still here (raspberry, cherry, dried and fresh each) but are succumbing to time's reduction in freshness. The original balance with oak is gone, and this bottle has swung towards a more forward heavy oak effect and a more oxidized fruit basket hidden behind. Not really my preference in aged zinfandel. Drink now - don't wait - to experience something close to its original charm. Bottle #6 of six.

December 6, 2012 - Second bottle I've had this year and this zin is still providing tons of pleasure. Oldest zin I've ever had that's lasted this long. Lots of texture and a balanced and mature wine.

September 23, 2012 - Awesome! Best zin I've ever had....very rounded and full bodied unlike other younger ones I've had. Terrific....,but I'm out

August 2, 2012 - This is a beautiful zin. I had no idea a zin would last 8 years, but this wine is still strong and elegant and has the perfect amount of spice that a great zin offers. Right out of the bottle without decanting this wine is smooth and drinkable. I'd say there is one more year left on this wine, but I would drink now.

October 6, 2011 - a really good zinfandel. Ruby in color that looked much younger. impeccably balanced wine with fruit, spicy pepper, oak and tannins coming together beautifully. this is one of those times when i wish i had the foresight to buy a whole bunch, but alas it was a one off.

(HAYWOOD ROCKY TERRACE ZINFANDEL) #1; COLOR-really dark; NOSE-beautiful, classic blueberry/blackberry/cherry custard pie, hint of mocha, one of the best Zin noses ever; TASTE-a superior bottle of Zinfandel, completely integrated, so refined & clean, the fruit is completely pure & elegant, hint of black pepper, extremely silky, beautiful finish, no heat, completely integrated w/ ripe black currant, this is the Real Deal; WS-92; GV-92+
