September 11, 2020 - Thus wine could have easily fooled me as old world. While it is fading I still enjoyed this fantastic wine. Drink now

February 9, 2020 - Crimson in color with some bricking at the edge of the glass. 13% ABV. Old world style nose of red fruits, leather and cigar box. Medium body with a core concentrated fruits lurking below the surface. Tart cherries, currants, cassis and tobacco on the palate. Exceptional length on the finish. This vintage was always considered one of the best wines Quilceda Creek made prior to a “style shift” in 2002. The wine is probably past its peak but remains a great window into a bygone era at Quilceda Creek. Even well stored bottles should be enjoyed over the next 1-2 years.

January 25, 2020 - Dog sitting Compass over the weekend, and MC2 had this bottle on their counter for me to try. The oldest QC I've tried. This wine had more secondary and tertiary flavors now -- licorice and chewing tobacco. There is good acidity but not as much fruit which the 13% ABV comes in nicely. This may drink better with a nice steak or burger.

January 23, 2020 - A Taste of Washington Wines w/Rasa focus (Our apt): This was a bit tired which surprised me. Not sure if that's a factor of storage (we bought in secondary market) or a year that didn't age as much or just that the wine is getting to the end of life. I appreciated the more secondary notes, but it just felt less vibrant and fresh.

November 23, 2019 - I was excited to check in on this old friend at age 25, this '94 being in my opinion one of the greatest American wines ever produced. Still deep in color, shaded a bit to garnet. Remarkably youthful nose showing pleasant pine resin, and prominent black cherry and alcohol fumes that mask the usual violet notes. More black cherry and alcohol on the palate, a little barnyard funk, tannins not obtrusive, low acidity. Hot finish. I enjoyed this bottle, but it wasn't quite what I was hoping for.
