Community Tasting Notes 13

April 12, 2024 - Perky and vibrant with classic sangiovese notes of sour cherries. Nice weight with clean acidity and powdery tannins. Just a hint of stink through the middle. This has definitely improved since my last bottle 14 months ago and seems to be somewhere near its prime.

November 5, 2023 - Not bad, pretty savoury, pretty sour - exactly what you’d expect from Col D’orica. A bit rough around the edges though and lots of rusticity to those tannins and acidic structure. Also a little lacking in high notes which, bearing in mind we are being asked to believe this is £20+ wine, is a little hard to take. 88

February 7, 2023 - This is a fairly simple but endearing wine showing perky red fruits with some nice notes of tobacco. There is plenty of zip from the bright acidity and the texture is medium bodied. Ideal to go with a pizza mid-week. Might be worth waiting a year or two as I suspect the tightness of youth is holding back a bit of nuance.

January 9, 2023 - Popped and poured. Nose of red cherry, dried herbs and forest floor. Red cherry, strawberry, dried herbs and forest floor on the palate. Finishes with good persistence. Medium bodied. Good QPR. Served with baked lasagna.

January 1, 2022 - A bit tight but with typical premium sangiovese aromas. Dark chocolate in the tannic finish.
