December 12, 2023 - Full-bodied with sweet bramble and black cherry fruit laced with spice and pepper. Soft easy tannins give way to a rich dose of black chocolate. Rich, warming and easy drinking. Not a grape I generally warm to but this was a great example. CHP 89 pts

April 29, 2023 - Deep purple colour. Bouquet of forest (wood) and tar. Flavour dominated by plum and licorice, tannins aren’t too bad. Moderate acidity and flavours linger for quite a while.

    November 1, 2022 - Deep Ruby colour.
On the nose, black cherry, plum, chocolate, oak and some vanilla.
On the palate, high acidity, medium tannins, high alcohol, full body.

September 9, 2022 - Excellent! Will look forward to tasting tomorrow, very little time was allowed today. In any case, really wonderful charactoristics of dark fruit and cedar along with tobacco on the palate. The finish seemed short, but I suspect that will change with a bit of time…both with this specific bottle and those that remain in our cellar.
Day 2: the time (with vacuum stopper) has really allowed this wine to blossom improving my score to 94! Next year, with a solid 99 minutes of decantation, this wine will surely be fantastic!

    Cheers!

May 1, 2022 - Story goes, that 30 years ago 19 growers made a collective to attempt to improve the wine from this region – their rep for ‘bulk wine’ being well known. Now, the group has over 3000 members & this wine tastes bulk like yet again.

The color is suspect here and the nose emits over-baked fruit & spice - but a weird aroma of dill pickles.

Big, jammy, & rustic on the palate, with elevated alcohol, chewy tannins, and a cloying sweet, almost syrupy finish. Might be happy to have this handed to me at a large BBQ, but could not finish the bottle here.

Luca Maroni gave it 99 points? Perhaps…if the scale went to 114.

The special bottles are heavy, and so black that one can hardly tell how much nectar is left. I hate thinking one spent more for the bottle than the wine. Faulted bottle maybe...but not my 'cuppa.

May 22, 2021 - A pitch balck wine w. an intense bouquet of black jam. Both acidity and tannins are not much over medium which gives this wine a very plump appearance. The body is full w. cinnamon, mint, marzipan and cherry wine. The finish is long, but the jammy part seems endless. Objectively speaking it is well-made, but I find it ridiculously over the top on the jammy note.

    Drink.
