December 9, 2019 - Lovely nose with great depth and complexity - dark fruit, tobacco, green pepper, spices, earth. On the palate fresh and vibrant, elegant fruit, nice tannic structure. Great balance, very long. Lovely. Drink or keep. 93-95
November 30, 2019 - This wine is Great!
Still deep ruby in color. The nose is so intense, a pot pouris of elegant aged Cabernet, similar to a Comtesse de Lalande from Pauillac or a Cos d’Estournel from saint Estephe, but just from a bit warmer climate : leather, olives, dried meat, black berries, cigar box.
It’s full body, mature, silky, soft, ripe red and black berries, dried fruits, licorice, nice balanced acidity. It’s so elegant, so much long and absolutely ready.
This is a real treat tonight.
November 26, 2019 - Flawless cork, deep red, no browning. Cherries, herbal notes, leather. Very clean, good acidity, nice finish. This was not that impressive on release but has aged well and should be good for a few more years.
October 24, 2019 - Fine Wines SG - 90s Tuscany vs The World (Fine Wines SG): Some Chinese herbal hints and lightly grilled chicken on the nose. The fungal herbal feels extend to the palate, and some blackberry, rose, and grass. Some good fruit flesh and meats at the back, and a good persistence
February 8, 2019 - One of those bottles you wish to drink forever. A bit defensive in the beginning, the nose soon opens to irresistible charm and elegance. Still in the beginning of its drinking window, with ample freshness and mineral expressions, this wine is built to please. Mature cherry, violet, plum, delicately contrasted by cedar, tobacco, chocolate, caramel, menthol, thyme. Very noble cask, leveraging the elegance of the wine to perfection. A true blockbuster to be opened now or during another decade.
January 12, 2019 - Drank as part of a verticle with a '90, '92, '95, and in everyone's opinion, this was the bell of the ball. This wine was at its peak and did not show any signs of decline. Complex nose, red cherry, dried herbs, and a hint of leather on the finish leading to a euphoria-inducing lingering finish. If you have this wine drink it now as it is as close to perfection as can be imagined.
December 26, 2018 - Enjoyed over an evening. On opening, cork was in great shape and no hints of anything to be concerned about, even 21 years later. Fair bit of sediment. First notes were of currant, and a bit of a chalky cherry that was thoroughly pleasant. 20 years has smoothed this significantly and within 20 minutes or so it was revealing a fewer more flavours, some savoury - and a bit of ringing tartness that stayed present for minutes after a taste. Very enjoyable, perhaps past its peak - maybe the little bit thin - but in my opinion only slightly. Hope we cross paths again.

November 3, 2018 - 3 Decades of Sassicaia Masterclass with Priscilla Incisa della Rochetta (Decanter FWE, The Landmark hotel, London): From Magnum. Quite a dark color still bit with bricking on the rim that hints to a bit of age. The nose is actually quite youthful and granted it has some secondary touches. The nose could be confused for classic left bank bordeaux. Still in ts prime, leathery, cedar and has evolved very nicely. Dark fruited and at times felt quite primary fruit a testament to the longevity of these wines. Herbal side too here. Silky tannin and drinks superbly now and most likely at peak. Another great late 90s Sassicaia . 94
September 15, 2018 - Pre 'Typhoon Mangkhut' White Truffle Birthday Dinner (Octavium, 8/F, 22 Des Veoux Road, Central, Hong Kong): From a double magnum opened but not decanted for 5 hours. Semi opaque deep ruby-purple colour but transparent at the meniscus. Nose is deep mature black/red cherry, high noted acetone nail varnish, oak, roses. Palate is gorgeous acidic freshness, tons of tannic backbone but already accessible, pencil lead precision, graphite, very integrated and harmonious. A truly beautiful wine. Great resonance on the finale but just short of thunderous. Superb with the white truffle and chantrelle mushroom Tagliolini.
