February 14, 2023 - Notes after 3 hours open and it clearly was still improving. I like it a little better now than 7 months ago as I can detect a little more tannin and acidic structure, but the alcohol distraction is still a little beyond my range for ultimate enjoyment.

August 2, 2022 - I'm going to be a bit of a contrarian here. I dig this wine. It's not the best WW Syrah I've had but it's a good wine. Double decanted. 87 upon first taste and closer to a 90 after an hour. Savoury leather, earth & funk notes with some dark blue fruit. Nice with a veggie Forbidden rice bowl. Yes it'd be better with less oak but it's a great weekday drink for me.

July 15, 2022 - Unfortunately, no change for the better compared to my first bottle, 8 months ago. Still a big wallop of oak to the face and a bodyshot of alcohol for good measure. Reminds me of the old days, drinking Tobin James ;0
But for $13, little to regret.

December 20, 2021 - Notes after 8 hours open. Fully opaque ruby with very slow and lightly stained legs. Medium intensity bouquet: black berries, oak and popcorn butter, and definite hints of the signature funk of the area. Served blind, I'm sure I would call WA Syrah. I can't be as critical as the three before me here because I always expect a good dose of oak from the region, too. This did show steady improvement with aeration and I plan to wait another 6+ months before opening another.

December 11, 2021 - One of the more interesting failures I've drunk recently, to be honest. The best Rocks syrah I've had tends towards more of a Northern Rhône model, but this was seemingly designed to be more like a humongous Aussie shiraz - high alcohol, high extract, lots of oak, more more more. It's an intensely tiring, punishingly huge wine that tastes of nowhere in particular. That said, the quality is fine - it's not _bad_ bad, it's just unnecessary, unconvincing, and overall kind of a bummer.
