Community Tasting Notes 5

April 18, 2014 - Thought this would be way past it's prime, but tasted shockingly good, though probably not for much longer

June 16, 2008 - Tasted much more like a Cab tonight, with plum and vegetal aromas. Still a nice silky texture, and that nice core of fruit-friendly acidity. Peppery finish. Had with rib-eyes and baked potatoes.

July 24, 2007 - Very, very good merlot that is beautifully made. It is rich, robust, and fruity with a core of currant, clove, and caramel aromas and flavors. Accented by vanilla and toast, this wine will please any big red wine drinker. Not a wimpy merlot by any means.

June 21, 2007 - I am opening up the bottle I bought on 6/3. Clearly my palate was off that day or I was just pretty drunk at that point (most likely) b/c I am experiencing this totally different today: amazingly bright, clear ruby in color. I can't stress enough how much this wine reminds me of walking through a vineyard. The nose is woodsy, full of oak and fruit. The wine overall is light-bodied with ripe cherries, plum and berries on the palate. Very acidic at first, but settles to a smooth and balanced finish. This is worth stocking up on. With the wine club discount, it's a steal.

June 3, 2007 - Medium bodied, cherries and other orchard fruit on the palate. Nice finish. Very good with spicy food. A good merlot for less than $15 is rare!
