October 14, 2023 - really was looking forward to this one. unfortunately not my style. my wife called it jammy (and she enjoys modern style wines and lots of new oak). very well mare, no question, just not a style I enjoy. alcohol level was not noticeable, this would be gteat for a big steakhouse style dinner. lovely fruit but the extraction was the distraction. 93 points if this is your style.

July 23, 2023 - Double decanted Friday, served Saturday, revisited Sunday. Dark magenta, deep dark core. Super young, oak dominated GIII fruit, blackberry and mocha. Seriously mouth shriveling tannins. Will stash for 10+years.

April 29, 2023 - Classic Napa Cab that’s about as subtle as a freshly tarred road.

Big bodied, high alcohol wine that should only be used in hand to hand combat or, if you must, paired with some hearty food.

OK, this is not actually that bad of a wine, and someone looks to have spent quite a bit of money making it, but I don’t understand the 94+ ratings here and am ruing my decision to pay $170 each (w shipping) for three. The wooden box *is* very nice, but the effect is offset by the laughably huge amount of gold wax they decided to top the bottle with. Make sure you’re using the long corkscrew or pull out the angle grinder.

Appearance: Very deep ruby, as you would expect
Nose: Medium intensity. Dominated by the vanilla and coconut of the french oak, bread, chocolate and tar. If you let it fully open and really concentrate, there’s a little bid of blueberry there.
Flavor: At least medium acid and medium plus tannins, which are plush and not at all aggressive. Very concentrated Flavor profile matches the nose. Heavy on the chocolate, with maybe a hint of menthol in there. Very little fruit. Full body and big, viscous mouthfeel (I’m actually surprised it’s only labeled at 14.5%). Decently long finish but nothing to send a fax to your mum about.

I’ll stash these at the bottom of the cellar for the next 5 years to see if they improve with some age.

March 25, 2023 - Didn't pay attention to my own last tasting note and opened. Very similar to last note, this can sit for quite a while yet.

March 21, 2023 - Splash decanted. End of the night and memory a bit hazy but I was not particularly impressed. Lots of acidity and nice fruits but again has this cloying residual sugar.

This wine was opened way too young, and should probably stay buried for another 5 years or so. I kept half the bottle in the fridge and will report back.

Day 2: high toned blue fruits with deep black fruits on the finish. Still plenty of RS but also good acidity.

Summary: kind of simple with cloying sweetness. Will please a crowd but this is not top-level wine.
