    January 28, 2017 - December '16 - January '17 Events: This wine transported me to France. The wine’s concentration and earthiness evokes a classy bistro, zinc bar and woven café chairs. It has a fragrant bouquet with hints of cooked meat infusing the earthy red berry fruit. The spice and red berry-based palate is harmonious, well structured and focused, building toward a grippy finish.     May 29, 2008 - Opened this as a test of the 2005 Burgundies. Nice nose with plenty of fruit. Solid body and almost muscular for a Burgundy. Initial impressions: plenty of fruit with a very solid backbone. I think this wine will get better in a few years. It shut down dramatically after about 30 minutes, with the tannins starting to overwhelm the fruit. I put a fair bit of the bottle away to try tomorrow to see how it fares, but my sense is that this is a very good wine that needs a few years in the bottle to settle down.
