October 26, 2023 - Tasted like a big Pinot. So smooth.

October 7, 2022 - A very rich and balanced syrah. Of course it is young at this point but it continued to open up over two days exposed to air. Good sign for aging potential.

December 23, 2021 - First bottle. Opened for one and a half hours. It is young and will likely improve with time, but produced a good experience. It has a different and interesting note in its taste spectrum, but I am not able to describe it well.

December 9, 2021 - Really nice finish. Consume on same day. Doesn’t hold well decantered

October 15, 2021 - Very good but too young. Not giving a score because it needs more time and will likely get much better,

August 1, 2021 - First shipment from DuMol after finding out my favorite wine was made by the winemaker there. Popped the Syrah on a Sunday evening after a long weekend at a family reunion. First tastes off the freshly opened bottle was exciting. Depth and structure well represented, but tight - waiting at the starting gate for the bell. Sat in the glass for about 30 min and blossomed into an incredibly beautiful and decadent Syrah. Great balance on the alcohol with strong and structured black fruit and tannin (but nothing over-extracted or overbearing). If anything, had the profile of a great wine that could be enjoyed now, but would significantly reward the patient in the next 4-9 years. It's official - Andy Smith is my favorite winemaker.

May 6, 2021 - Early days, but it's raring to go. I'm pretty sure that, in the category of New World Syrah, I've never encountered a better value. On the nose, it's broadly floral. In the mouth, the fruit profile reminds me a little of a dark strawberry fruit roll-up, one of those kid snacks that only we Gen X'ers seem to remember. It balances sweet fruit and an herbal edginess. It's got just enough alcohol to give it "lift." For me, some California Syrahs taste a little flat compared to (e.g.) their Aussie cousins, but that's no problem here. The finish is super long and shows a tasty combination of grapey dark fruit, dark chocolate, and some spicy oregano. This is a stock-up wine.
